A Google Shopping Feed is a crucial tool for ecommerce businesses looking to showcase their products on Google. It is essentially a spreadsheet that provides detailed information about your product catalogue in a format that is optimised for Google's algorithms. Unlike a Search Feed, which relies on specific search terms to trigger ads, a Google Shopping Feed allows your products to be displayed based on relevance to user queries and other factors determined by Google's algorithms. By organising your product data in a Google-friendly format, you can increase the visibility of your products and reach a larger audience of potential customers.
To enable this feature, you must ensure that you have the Google Shopping Feed plugin installed.
Firstly go into Plugins within the Shopblocks Admin System:
Then select the Google Shopping Feed plugin:
Once installed, go to Settings:
You will need to map your website categories to the closest Google category. You can do this by typing in the category name and selecting from the available options:
In your Google Merchant Account, define where the feed is coming from by pasting the file URL from Shopblocks and set the download frequency (e.g once per day):
Make sure to resolve any data errors shown in the top right 'Feed Status' section in Shopblocks. The feed will then automatically update at the intervals you set within the Google Merchant Centre:
Finally click Save:
