How do I set up Distance-based Delivery Options?

Using this feature, you can now calculate the distance from your business to your customer and calculate delivery rates based on your own custom distance-based delivery tariff.

Treating the premises you list in your Shop Settings > Business Address area as your starting point, the Deliveries area now supports as the crow flies distance calculations to different delivery rates depending on how far the customer is away.

To make sure deliveries are being calculated from the right place, you first need to make sure the business address details are correct.

To check this head to Settings.

 

Then Site Settings.



Then you will see the Business information area.

 

Once you have edited the information here and ensured it is correct, press Save in the top right of your screen.


Setting up the distance calculator


To set up the distance calculator, head to Settings > Deliveries.



 

Click + Add Delivery.

 

Give your new delivery a name and then navigate down to the first set of rules where you will be able to establish if your new delivery rule is a flat rate, or a variable rate.



If you select flat rate, the delivery option will only display for customers whose delivery postcodes are within the kilometre distance from your premises that you set in the distance field.

Click Distance (please note this feature is currently limited to the UK only).



Then set the distance from your business that qualifies for this option.



If you want to set a variable rate select Variable Rate.




Then continue to add rates dependent on the distance to the customer.

 


Once you are happy with your delivery method, click Save in the top right hand corner of your screen and the delivery method will become active for qualifying customers.
