How do I manage Discounts rules?

Discount rules allow you to tailor promotional offers based on specific criteria, ensuring they are both effective and targeted. This guide explains how to configure the various rules for discounts to maximise their impact.

1. Date Range

Specify the time frame for the discount to ensure it is only active during the intended period.

  • Start Date: The date and time the discount becomes available.

  • End Date: The date and time the discount expires.

For example, you can schedule discounts for special occasions such as Black Friday or a seasonal sale.

2. Order Value

Set a range for the total value of orders to qualify for the discount.

  • Min Spend: The minimum order value required to apply the discount.

  • Max Spend: The maximum order value for which the discount is applicable.

Note: If "Matching items only" is enabled, the order value will be calculated based on items that qualify for the discount criteria.

3. Limits

Control how frequently the discount can be used.

  • Overall Limit: The total number of times the discount code can be redeemed (e.g., a code can be used 100 times across all customers).

  • Per Customer/User: The number of times an individual customer can redeem the discount.

For example, you can allow a discount to be used once per customer while capping overall redemptions at 500.

4. Customer Permissions

Specify who can use the discount:

  • All Customers: Includes both logged-in users and guests.

  • All Logged-in/Registered Customers: Only registered users can redeem the discount.

  • All Guests: Exclusively available for guest checkout users.

  • Customers Tagged with Specific Attributes: Limit discounts to customers who match specific tags (e.g., "VIP," "Wholesale").

  • Customers Associated with a Company: Enable discounts for customers tied to a company account.

  • Specific Customers: Restrict the discount to particular email addresses for personalised offers.

5. Items to Discount First

Prioritise which items in the cart receive the discount when multiple items are eligible:

  • Cheapest First: Discounts are applied starting with the least expensive qualifying items.

  • Most Expensive First: Discounts are applied starting with the highest-priced qualifying items.

This rule is particularly useful for Buy X Get Y discounts.

6. Customisations

Choose whether the discount applies to product customisations.

  • Apply Discount to Product Customisations: If enabled, the discount will apply to product customisations.
