How do I create a Delivery Option?

Adding a delivery method is an essential part of setting up an online store. Customers may qualify for different delivery rates based on their delivery location, total order value, product type, and more.

In this example, we add a delivery method for customers checking out from outside the UK.

Head to Settings:

Then click Manage deliveries.

In the top right click + Add Delivery.

Add a name for your new delivery.

Change the price (please note this is the price including tax) and set a weight limit. If you click Variable Rate, you can add rates and assign a different price per weight band you add. You can set the weight bands to be in grams or kilos (or both as the rate climbs), depending on the nature of your product inventory.

You can also tick the Free delivery box if delivery is free and does not require a price. The same applies for the weight limit - if there is no limit, just tick the No weight limit checkbox.

You also have the option to configure Distance-based delivery specifically for the UK.

If the delivery is free or a reduced rate over a certain level of spend, tick the Activate special offer tick box and enter either the reduced rate or tick Free, and add in the spend required to activate the offer in the Minimum spend area.

If you want to display some text next to the delivery method when it is listed at checkout, please add it in here. If not, leave it blank and the customer will just see the name you inputted in Step 3 of this guide. You can set the dispatch time and dates in the Dispatching Orders section, but this isn't essential.

Scroll down and at the bottom of the page you will see a tick box saying Applies to all products. If this is ticked, then your delivery method will be visible and available to select for every customer on your site, no matter their location.

If you untick the box, you will see the Rules section is revealed. This is where you can set who qualifies for the delivery method.

To include an order and make it eligible for this delivery method, under the green Include heading, click + Add Rule. Then change the Products matching dropdown to the appropriate type in the list.

In this example we are setting up international delivery for a UK based business, so we want to include any Delivery address in (region) of European Union.

We now need to add another rule to also include delivery addresses outside the European Union. Click + Add Rule and then change the Products matching dropdown to Delivery address in (region) of Rest of World.

With two rules in place you will note there is the word AND placed between them, indicating the rule is looking for orders with a delivery address in both the European Union and Rest of World. As customers can only select one region when setting an address, navigate upwards and right to the Products must match selector and click Any Rules. This will change the AND to OR, indicating the system is looking for orders with a region of European Union OR Rest of World.

Back up at the top in the Visibility section, you can set whether or not to make this delivery method visible and active in your store right away. Only Active delivery methods can be used. Delivery methods that are not visible in the shop can still be used on manual orders.

Now you are all set. All addresses in the EU and Rest of World are covered by this delivery method, and customers in the UK will not see it. Head to the top right of the page and press Save.
