How do I add customisations to a product?

Product customisations allow your customers to customise the product on offer. This is a great opportunity to create up-sells and cross-sells to increase your average basket value.

To customise a product, navigate to the Products section on the main menu and choose the specific product you want to customise. If you do not have any products yet, you can learn how to add a new product here.

Select the product you want to customise. Once you are on the product page you wish to edit, simply scroll down until you reach the Product Customisations section.

Click Add Customisation, and you will see a range of fields appear.

Label

Add a unique label for your customisation, depending on what you wish the customer to do. This message can be whatever you want.

Modifier Type

Modifier type is typically used for advanced price calculations when multiple customisations are being used together to create a bespoke price for a product.

In the majority of use cases, leaving this selected as Add at Start or Add at End will give you the result you desire.

Add at Start: This adds the value of a particular customisation at the beginning of the sum - this is suitable for the majority of customisation use cases.

Multiply at Start: This adds a multiplier to the price of a particular product at the beginning of the sum.

Add at End: This simply adds the value of the customisation at the end of any other sums.

Multiply at End: This adds a multiplier to the price of a particular product at the end of the sum.

How we calculate the price of a product when using multiple price multipliers at once

We take the product price and add on any "Additions to Price". Next, we add together any multipliers and subtract one, and multiply the price by this number. For example, if you have two multipliers of 1.1, the multiplier will be 1.1 + 1.1 - 1 = 1.2, which is the same as adding 20% to the price.

After that, we multiply the whole thing by the Ending Multiplier, giving you a chance to add or subtract a percentage to the final product price. At the very end, we add on any Final Additions. This is a good way to add any fixed price extras that aren't affected by the multipliers.

Price Difference

In the price difference field, simply add the value of the customisation and this will be added to the final price when added to basket. If you selected a Modifier type of "Multiply" rather than "Add", then enter a numerical value to multiply the product's base price by. For example, entering 1.1, will increase the price of the product by 10% if the customisation is added.

Removing a customisation

To remove a customisation from a product, just click the "X" icon to the right hand side of the customisation. Save the product and it will be removed.
